About me
I am a burgeoning writer, based out of New Jersey, with a wide variety of creative and technical writing experience. I received my bachelor’s degree in Writing, Rhetoric, and Technical Communication from James Madison University. While in undergrad, I worked for the campus marketing office Technology and Design (now Student Affairs Communications and Marketing) creating articles, blog posts, and social media copy for different campus-based clients. My subjects included campus events, student-oriented services, and campus history. I was even part of multi-team “behind-the-scenes” projects, such as creating style guides for other campus media offices.
After graduation, my career took a turn, and I found myself gravitating towards the nonprofit field. I started working at Binnacle House, a group home designed for at-risk boys and young men in the state of New Jersey. I began my career in a direct care position but worked my way up to becoming the company’s in-house Case Manager. In this role, I was responsible for creating treatment plans for the residents, working collaboratively with staff, the residents’ social workers, and the residents themselves to determine the best course treat for each individual person. These plans, and the meetings held to discuss them, were created on a trimonthly basis, and were an integral part of my job as Case Manager. My new role required extensive use of his technical writing skills, as well as new ones he either honed or learned on the job. Patience, conflict resolution, effective communication, and many other traits and skills were all required of me on a daily basis. My time at Binnacle House left a lasting impacted that shaped me as a person and my career trajectory. Outside of work, I keep myself occupied with several creative hobbies. I write in my free time, focusing on poetry and short stories. I’m an avid reader, and always have a book on hand to fill my free moments. Music is also a big part of my life and has been the focus of some of my personal and professional writing projects. I love to learn, so I am constantly pursuing new hobbies and creative outlets. Over time, I’ve taught myself a lot about drawing, digital design, and photo editing, to name a few things. Most recently, I’ve been exploring outdoor activates. I find a lot of excitement, and even peace, in hiking and camping.
